99T part 5 – new sheet metal for the rocker panels

There’s a ton of welding to be done on the 99 Turbo. We decided to start with the floor and the rocker panels to get some integrity back into the body. The outer rocker panels were pretty much rotten away but thankfully the inner panels were pretty much ok. This makes repairs a bit easier, since replacing the inner rocker panels would be a real pain.

We put in a little extra support beams before cutting the outer panels away. The Saab 99 body is quite stiff, but we were cutting away some important sections. When the rocker panels have been repaired I’m thinking we will change the whole quarter panels (or most of them). This requires cross-bracing the cabin. But we shall see when we get there…

I’m also thinking, that I’ll change the color of the car to black…
