The three day IntSaab2011 event was held in Ellivuori, Finland this weekend. It was great to be part of the organizing team and see so many (400+) Saab-enthusiasts from all over the world here. Thanks to all who attended, it was great to see you and have many interesting discussions about Saabs!
I’ll post an image gallery on the IntSaab2011.fi site soon, and write a more detailed report here also, but here’s a little collection video clips from the event:
… But it will not be ready. Unfortunately I have not been able to work on the car during the summer, so it will not be finished in time for IntSaab. But I will bring it on a trailer anyway.
It is in running condition though – we managed to sort most of the problems on that department. Here’s a short video:
Starting to sound pretty healthy to me
I bought a box full of new spark plugs.
Despite having excellent instructions I had a lot of difficulties getting the spark and ignition timing right.
I realized I had a short nose distributor on the longnose and it was not working well either.
So we took apart two longnose distributors to built one decent.
It worked out pretty well as you hear on the video. But we still need to change the springs on the centrifugal advance unit – It’s causing the spark to wander too much.
I still have some work on the electricals. The signal switch wiring is different in 1966 and 1964!

Since I already posted the video of a Saab 900 Police Car I decided to continue on the same topic. Here’s a few pics I shot of a 1968 Saab 99 Police Car and a Saab 900 Police Car. I don’t remember the model year of the 900, but I think it’s 1989-90:ish…
The cars are part of the Finnish Police Museum collections.

The Finnish Police still has one Saab 900 (16 valve 900i) in active duty. The car is more or less used as a backup and it is possibly going to museum sometime soon.
Here’s a video from the Finnish broadcaster YLE (in Finnish only): http://areena.yle.fi/video/1299758544123
The clip should be viewable outside of Finland also.
Uusi autotekniikka asettaa pelastustyöntekijöille aiemmasta poikkeavia haasteita vakavissa auto-onnettomuuksissa.
Pelastuslaitoksilla on käytössään sähköinen järjestelmä, josta saadaan ruudulle kaavakuvat onnettomuusauton vahvistetuista rakenteista, turvatyynyistä, polttoainejärjestelmästä, akuista ym.
Pelastuskortti tulee sijoittaa kuljettajan puolen aurinkolippaan.
